How Does Dental Insurance Work?

Dental insurance helps to cover the cost of dental care. There are a variety of dental insurance plans available, and each plan has its own coverage and benefits. Most plans will cover all of the cost of preventive care, such as routine teeth cleanings and x-rays, while some also cover a portion of the cost of major dental work, such as fillings, crowns, implants and braces.

Many dental insurance plans have an annual deductible, the amount you will need to pay out-of-pocket before your insurance plan begins to pay for dental services. Once you have met your deductible, you will be responsible for paying a co-payment or co-insurance for dental services. Some dental insurance plans also have a maximum benefit limit, the maximum amount the plan will pay for dental services in a year.

FAQs About Using Dental Insurance

Most dental insurance plans will cover 100% of preventive and basic dental care from a general dentist. But, often, they will only pay a portion of the cost of other procedures like orthodontic treatment or dental implants.

Using dental insurance at our office is easy! When you come for your appointment, we’ll ask to see your insurance card. We’ll take down your information and do everything for you! If you are having a major procedure done, you should consider contacting the insurance company first to find out what portion of the treatment they will cover.

If you have questions about what services your insurance will pay for, start by contacting your provider and asking for a detailed list of benefits and coverage. If you have questions about billing, contact our office. Our staff can help you understand what to expect in terms of billing.

Other Ways to Pay For Your Dental Care

You can receive significant savings on your dental health care through the Casey Dental Patient Savings Plan. This plan is an annual program that provides patients with quality dental treatment care at an affordable cost. Patients who enroll in this program will receive a discount on their dental health care services, particularly in the new patient exams, periodic exams, oral cancer screening service, oral hygiene instructions, and emergency exams.
